05.11.2003 14:05
The tests in the Kolsky bay of the project 11435 “Eagle” aircraft carrier have been completed successfully. In the past three years the ships has been repaired and this is its first sail to the sea. Mikhail Zaharenko, Deputy CinC of the Russian navy, was on board the ship during the tests. In the nearest days Sevmorput shipyard will check the power station of Admiral Kuznetsov. In 2003 RUR150m was allocated from the budget to repair the ship. Before financing was irregular, this delayed the repair and made the deck pilots train on the ground base. Russian navy has repeatedly confirmed that the aircraft carrier will remain in service in the foreseeable future and “there are no discussions about its decommissioning”.
