NPO Lavochkina developed a new micro-satellites platform for the Russian Academy of Science

The Academy already ordered 25 types of satellites. "We have won the tender on micro-satellites and now we do a number of devices weighing about 100 kg", - said general director and general designer of NPO George Polischuk. He explained that the platform received the symbolical name "Carat". The first assistant to the general designer Maxim Martynov noted, that "technologies have stepped far ahead - the elementary base has changed, there are new materials, and in the beginning of 2000s we understood, that we can create devices under 100 kg".
