Hydroacoustic Tanks
Technology of Krylov Shipbuilding Research Institute
These facilities are intended to investigate the efficiency of noise control arrangements and reflecting capacities of hull structures at different water depths.
1. Variable Pressure Tank
- Tank length 25 m,
- Tank diameter 4 m,
- Hydrostatic pressure range (0 - 3)·106 N/m2,
- Maximum specimen size 1,8 x 1,4 x 1 m.
The Variable Pressure Tank serves to measure reflectance, absorptance and loss factors of the tested specimens at various angles of plane acoustic wave incidence, as well as to conduct investigations on acoustic processes in submersible mechanisms and systems.
2. Anechoic Hydroacoustic Tanks
Dimensions:
- 9,8 x 5,7 x 4,7 m;
- 5,0 x 3,0 x 3,0 m
The basins enable to carry out the following kinds of investigations with models and dummies of ship hull structure:
- acoustic radiation properties,
- vibroacoustic characteristics,
- efficiency of self-noise reduction measures on naval and merchant ships.
Maximum specimen weight - 2·103 kg,
Frequency range (3 - 50)·103 Hz.
